Special Projects Engineer

Job Description:

  • Develop creative solutions to MTNN’s coverage enhancement needs
  • Deployment and maintenance of mobile BTSs used for rapid coverage and capacity, and special events
  • Process requirements for and implementation of direct connects and providing 1st line technical support to the customer
  • Design, plan and ensure deployment of micro BTSs and repeaters for coverage and capacity enhancement, corporate coverage and rapid coverage
  • Providing special solutions to support rollout difficulties e.g. Emergency Masts for transmission and BTS deployment
  • Lead trials/evaluation of technical solutions and equipment in order to determine suitability for MTNN network
  • Research new technology specialist solutions and keep abreast of market developments
  • Interact very closely with the RF P&O teams to get feedback on areas where specialist coverage solutions are required

Job Conditions:


General MTN N working conditions National traveling into various hinterlands Additional working time is usually required on an impromptu basis A valid drivers license Protective clothing (boots and overalls)
Reporting To: Special Projects Manager


Required Skills:

  • Three (3) years technical experience in the GSM environment
  • Experience in BTS hardware implementation within mobile telecommunications environment
  • Experience in the handling and use of GSM and microwave radios
  • Experience with test equipment in the mobile telecommunications environment

B.Sc. Electronic/Electrical Engineering

* Perform necessary system transactions related to customer request
* Use organization and time management tools to track cases and meet turn-around-times and other required metrics;

* Market MTN products and services to current and potential customers
* Provide advice to customers on what package(s) will suit their needs
* Enlighten and educate customers on new products and initiatives within MTN
* Educate customer on use of products and services
* Provide information regarding account or product enquiries

Reports


  • Document actions taken to resolve client problems.
  • Generate periodic reports and other ad-hoc reports as requested by team lead
  • Ensure effective and efficient administration and performance of credit and collection functions
  • Maintain professional business relationship with customers, collection agencies and trade organizations
  • Develop and administer credit and collections programs

Extended work hours including shifts and weekends Normal MTN office environment
